Has anyone built a belly mount grader blade set up for a WD? I have a gravel driveway about 500 feet long and the rear mount 3-point blade does not work very well for smoothing the gravel. (front of tractor drops down -- blade raises up -- makes it hard to get a smooth grading job). I saw a Farmall Cub with one built from an old cultivator that looked good, but am hoping some of you fellas have done something more creative..... ....thanks..... .....RP

I used to know a guy who modified a 3pt blade to mount under the belly of an Allis C. He cout off the tower for the top link and built a mount that let blade pivot on the lower link pins. Worked great for leveling dirt but would plug in deep snow.

Saw one once that used the front part of a mounted cultivater. It worked pretty good for smoothing loose gravel, was about all it would do. For smoothing gravel I use my pasture drag I made out of old tractor tires.

putting a tail wheel on the blade should improve that problem; that's my plans, anyway.

the blade should not raise up when the front end drops in a small depresson, if the hydrualic system is set in the float postion.i e lever all the way down.

How about a converted horse drawn grader (pull behind)? These can be had pretty cheap. They do a quality job since left / right blade elevation is controlled seperately. It allows good crown building.

Only problem is that it takes two people. Dad has Mom driving tractor since all the kids are gone...

You know they built something like that years ago. It was called a WC Speed Patrol it was based on a WC tractor. There a picture of one in my web site. Might give you an idea or 2 if you look at it

Old, do you have a WC speed patrol or a W? I don't think a WC is very common, in fact I have never seen one. If you do have a WC, I would like to see a picture if you could. I think Chuck Wendel had a picture in the Story of Allis.

In some of the reading I have done about Allis Chalmers. It seems that your picture is of a W Patrol or a W Speed patrol. It seems before Allis Chalmers built the W Patrol they built what was called a WC maintainer. I think it was built from around 1938-1940 It was built on the unstyled WC and was a different looking machine than the W Patrol that was built in the forties. I have only seen a couple of pictures of the early WC maintainer.

From every thing I have been able to find out about this thing its always been called a WC Speed Patrol. I have over the years done all I could to find out as much as I could about it. Its a 1947, based on the WC tractor has the WC/WD engine, the WC tranny/rear end and brakes. I've seen more then just the one I own and all have been called a WC Speed Patrol. This info has come from many of the guys on this site and other places also

Old, I sure don't want to start anything here, but I would have to agree 100% with Sid on this one. I have a W speed patrol and it looks exactly like yours. It is definatly a WC frame, but I'm pretty sure the official proper name is indeed a W speed patrol. There was two different factories that made the W's if I got my research done correct and perhaps thirty years of remembering is at falt here on my behalf. Again I sure don't want any ill feelings from anyone.

I do recall a old AC man that put me straight when I called mine a WC speed patrol. One thing I can't imagine is a 14 foot cutting blade on one of these.

Ive never measure the blade on this one. I don't think its ever near 14 foot. As I said and this is from looking all over and what the guys here said years ago that its a WC speed patrol and unless I see it in print from allis I'll still call it just that.

Old I can not referance AC as they of course are not around anymore. However Repair Parts list for Model "W" Speed Patrol Springfield ILL Works form TPL-110C & also Repair parts list for Model "W" speed patrol Milwaukee Wisc tractor division form TPL-110C does call it a W. Mine is in a shed that will take a hour of chipping ice to get the door open so I canot quote the SN. The SN is not in the same location as the WC. It is located on the right side up front if I remember correct.

The moldboard plate 1435 as a 9ft-10ft-12 ft tiltable as well as a 12 ft tiltable and adjustable PN 604133-604038-604131-605391 repectably as options.

I have never seen Plate 1473-scarifier 9 tooth option, but sure would like to locate one.
