I'm new to AC but I have a WD45 that I'd like to make a puller out of. What would be the best motor to put in it? Gleaner E engine or 201,226 power units.

I was just wondering. Why change the engine? Is it bad? If so why not spend the money on 1/8 over sleeves and pistons you will probably have to put in the 17 or gleaner engine anyway when you find out someone sold you their junk. 45 still has 4.5" stroke same as 17 or gleaner just different block. Just wondering. If I remember correctly you can put a 170 cam in for more power but you may have to change oil pump gears too.
Maybe I don't know what I'm talking about either.

I have a WD 45 with 1/8 over bore D17 sleeves and pistons in her that will dyno 70 hp at rated pto speed. engine parts are reasonable for AC and the best part is you can still pull in stock farm class.

Check with the rules with who you plan to pull with. Some groups make you move up a div. for having D17 or gleaner. This passed year I put together a W/C with D17 in it and my kids pulled
it and won the 3500 points with are group and runner up 4000. Cheap and easy and alot of fun. I would go for the D17 or gleaner. If your group will let you. John B.

I think the gleaner E is a good starting point, thats what is going in my WC this spring. That way you dont have to waste money on a 201 like I was planning to do, youre already ahead 40 hp for a small price. Just my opinion, doesnt mean im right.
