I have a 226 ci. E-gleaner motor, and was told I could put in 4.125 piston and sleeve set for wd. and get more compresion. Will this work? If so what else should I do to finish up this motor? Am planing to pull this tractor. Was also told I could use chevy pistons. If the WD. pistons work what kind of compression would I get, and H.P.? Any other ideas welcome. Thanks.

if you use wd pistons you will have more compression because the wrist pin is .25" lower in the piston.Means it will go up that much higher in the bore. But I could not find any [power crater ] type pistons for WD.If you can find a automotive type piston with a dish and the correct wrist pin hieght go for it,and please post it cause I would like a set also!

Be sure to put in the 9 spring pressure plate that is available as a replacement, or you can change the springs, or add the 3 extra springs into your older "WD" clutch... Several companys still sell 4 1/8" kits for the 226 Cu in engine.. Go with a kit that will give you at least 7to1 compression..

I believe it is M&W that made the 4 1/8 cylinders. I believe that they made them for the WD-45 as well as for the WD. I know of a source for them. I have 4 1/8 in my WD and I have a WD-45. With the cylinders, the WD is as stout as the 45. If you go with a 45 set, you can expect about 6 horsepower or nearly 50 with a WD-45. My numbers aren't exact. Perhaps someone else .....
