I was planning on putting a 45 crank in my WD but reacently was told that it wouldn't work unless I also change the pistons. Is this true?? It has the crater pistons in it now but a WD crank. The top of the pistons are around 1/2 inch from the top of the cylinder. I can see that if the crank has a 1/2 inch more throw that it would be too high but is there another way? (could I use the lathe to take off some of the top of the piston or is that foolish) Its getting pretty pricey to buy all the new stuff and the WD crank is ruined so I have to use the 45 crank to get it running.

Thanks

It will work the piston only goes 1/4 inch higher at top of throw and a 1/4 inch lower at the bottom of throw. If you are using the same sleeves make sure you don"t have too much of a wear lip where the top ring used to stop or even carbon build up so that you don"t bust a ring when it goes past that spot with the new crank.
