There is such a thing as a 301 direct injection engine that was in the 680 CK. Like Jon said it is quite involved to change. 30 series engines will start very good if the compression is up to snuff. This can be fixed with new valve seats and good valves. The valve that is on the surface of the head needs to be at the proper protrusion or it will hit the piston, but the valve in the hole above the injector can have a thicker seat that pushes the valve down into the combustion chamber further raising compression. It makes a huge difference on starting and power. Might be a better option than changing heads.
