I guess you have a lot more information than I have so have no reason to doubt what you say. Speaking of having a mind of it's own. We sold one 4494 that did also, at least it seemed that way to me. Could not convince customer's hired operators to be darn sure the steering selector switch was in front steer positon when driving down the road. It liked to take off once in a while and head for the side of the road. I think I traced it down to a loose set screw on steering sensor if I remember correctly. It was an experience for me not being familiar with Case equipment. Had another 4494 that the pto speed was incorrect. I checked it out against another one that was correct but we transfered it out to another dealer who needed one so never pinned it down. Noticed it when on the dyno so started checking pto rpm against engine rpm's. It was a real challenge working on so many different models of tractors when I had enough problems with the red ones the way it was.
