Gosh, I usually wouldn't jump in on the "ribbing" so to speak but I got to.. This made me think of a story..
We used to have a neighbor fella.. He'd be pushing 70 if he was still here today.. He was the kinda guy a younger fella could sit and listen to his stories all day.. They were kinda like "truck driver stories" as were mentioned on tractor talk the other day.. His stories were mostly true, but we would "add" to them to suck ya in or make ya laugh.. We all know a guy like this ol' boy was..
Anyhow, we'd talk farming, or trucks, or fixin, or pretty much anything.. mention Ford and he'd say in a somewhat "commercial announcer" jingle/singing kinda way (I can hear him say it in my head but dunno how to put it in words so that one could "hear" it too LOL)
"Buy a Ford, buy the best.. Plow an acre, spade the rest" In regards to tractors..
"Buy a Ford, Buy the best.. Drive a mile, walk the rest" In regards to trucks/cars.
Funniest part of it was in my lifetime he had 3 Ford tractors and lord only knows how many Ford trucks/cars.. His son still has the beloved Super Major around his old place to this day.. He was rough on equipment, if it held up it had to be pretty good. I believe he did his maintenance for the most part, but nothing was ever inside, and everything was used well beyond it's limits.
