Does anyone know how many 970 gas eight speed tractors were made? We have 970 eight speed gas tractor in good condition, but we are wanting to build a six cylinder gas for pulling. The question is do we use the gas engine from this tractor for a puller (in front of a 30 series rear end) and repower this tractor with a 451 turbo or non turbo diesel engine? The other option is to look for a gas six cylinder to build the puller and leave this one intact as a restored 970 gas. What is the best way to go? Thanks
