Do you mean that you want to keep your old canister and make it use a paper element? It seems like it would be easier to fabricate a new cup using the old top part and some sheet steel, patch it with JB Weld, line it with some fiberglass, or find a cheap bowl or pan at walmart and weld/solder/braze it back together with that. You should be able to find a K&N filter that will clamp right on to the carb, or you could watch Ebay for a year or so. You will probably have a chance at half dozen good VAC air cleaners during that time period.
