17 part designates it as a G226 (226 cu in ) 4 cylinder gas engine with a 4" bore and 4.5" stroke and a center thrust bearing. Based on the serial number it should be a full flow oiling system. It was primarily used in D17 tractors but also used in early Gleaner E combines and also used in some power units. If it came out of a combine it would have a mechanical fuel pump mounting location on the right side that would have to be plated off for a tractor application. The -M suffix designates the compression ration of 7.25:1 assuming the internals (sleeves & pistons) are original.
Will not be a bolt up to any D14/D15 tractor or the industrial/backhoe equivalents. Those used 149/160 engines. Mike
