You get to take it apart and learn what it's made of! I've never been into one. Many power assisted steering systems count on a precise adjustment. There will be a threaded portion in there. Picture a nut on a bolt. As one is turned, it draws the other up or down. That motion is used to activate a hyd. valve. It has to be very subtle, and precise, as you can imagine, for the power steering to kick in as you start to turn the wheel, in either direction!
