Now that is pretty interesting. Looks to be a Mesquite tree, so it's not really all that surprising. Dry weather with wind blowing causes dust and dirt to land everywhere. Figure a spoon full or two of dirt landed on that limb, and about that time some Mockingbird (the state bird of Texas) that was recently eating a cactus pear that was growing on the ground (where it belongs) and he takes a birdpoop that just happens to land in the spoon full of dirt. Then nature brings a bit of rain and whallahhhhhh.....cactus in a tree! That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
