No the fenders do not swing out. It has a bat wing hood so to work on it you almost have to climb into it just to do any thing. 50% of it is aluminum. Hood radiator shutters etc but the fenders and the stuff that would/could get hit are steel . As for the tranny ya I think it has the external air shift cylindr but been years since I was under it but hope to change that and have it on the road in the next 10 or less years
