Just make sure you review your traffic signal ordinance. Most read that it is a violation to "enter" an intersection when the light is red. You can still enter on a green or yellow and you are still good if it turns red after you are in the intersection.
The rub sometimes is what is considered the "intersection". One definition is the line where the edge of the intersecting roads is. The other arguable intersection is when you go across the crosswalk or the white line before the crosswalk. Depends upon how strict the Judge is. Usually the cops want it both ways so they can write everyone up for either going across the crosswalk before stopping or if you go through the intersection claiming it turned red after you went across the crosswalk then they want to use the streets as the intersection so they can write that up.
The other argument you can get into is how much of the car has to be in the intersection when the light turns red. Whether the front bumper, the driver's seat, half the car, or the whole car which also depends upon how strict the Judge is and how the different cops want to write it up.
