Here in my neck of the woods in NW Iowa we had 4.5" from two weeks ago until three days ago. No rain on Saturday, and Sunday was sunny, warm and gorgeous. This morning started frosty and clear and the ground was dry enough for me to finish the tree planting but the soil came up gooey when I dug the holes with the post digger.
The ponds in the fields had disappeared . Then at about 4:00 this afternoon the rain started again. Nothing hard, but enough to wet things down. It's still raining at 8:50 and is supposed to do so off-and-on for the rest of the week with possible storms for the weekend. Zero fieldwork is done here except for a scattering of oats planting on sandy high ground. Last year at this time I was done planting corn and getting ready to plug in the beans.
I'm not getting bored. There are plenty of odd jobs to do, I'm just doing them before planting instead of after. Jim
