Marine grade would work; was factory on spreaders for years from some makers. Plastic is better though- doesn't swell or rot (we haul every day, so our spreader almost never gets dried out... or washed), and takes less power to run the apron. Also lets the apron last longer. We averaged 5 years per apron in the last 3 spreaders with wood/plywood floors. The two spreaders we've had with plastic floors have averaged 9+ years per apron. Another advantage is that the manure is much less likely to freeze to the floor, though this isn't something everyone has to worry about.
