Is the top fuel tank full... if it has the top tank. I don't remember at this point? I'd say if the top tank is full it should gravity feed sufficiently to take care of any air leaks. If not... it could be an air leak at any connection on the low pressure side of the pump, a line.... a collapsed suction line, dirt floating over the strainer in the tank... or a dirty strainer. You could try blowing air back through the line to the tank and see if that dislodges whatever might be there. Be sure to remove the fuel cap before you apply air pressure to the tank tho... You could also have a bad vent in the cap that is causing the tank to vacuum lock. Usually a bad lift pump will leak fuel into the pump cambox...
