Well, a regulator must be polarized but I've never seen a turbo damaged by the wind or hauling a piece of equipment. In order for a turbo to spin air must flow freely thru it and in order for this to happen both valves in any one cylinder of the engine have to be open at the same time and this doesn't ever happen except in overlap mode and this is a very minute opening and the engine is very unlikely to stop in this mode or positition.
