Using anything like the tripple 12 at a fertilizer box wide open rate you would put on 3 times what it would take to burn up the plant. Perhaps if you can find a way to set the fertilizer unit for a rate of 200# per acre (unlimited the rate could be a thousand pounds per acre) (that would be on 40" rows, 30" would be around 260#) you would not burn up the plant and broadcast the rest and would get a good crop. And possibly try to set the planter for a seed drop of 6-7", closer the stalks do not have room to grow, depending on soil that might still be a too heavy a population but go no closer than that.
