Where I used to work we had some gear reducers that usually leaked just a little, and when you are making white paper you can't have oil dripping down from the bridge crane! our solution was to put absorbent pads on the bottom like a diaper and that is what we called them. One time we got a complete new trolley and I was putting diapers on the gearboxes before we installed it and the supervisor said we shouldn't need that, its brand new. I replied you wouldn't bring a new baby home from the hospital without a diaper would you!
