Hello there, I am a recent new owner of a 54 Jubilee and I must say I am enjoying learning about it. I connected the lift to some three point implements and it will lift them quite quickly and hold them there, but it will lower them as soon as I kill the motor. I was thinking it might be a ring on a piston letting it bleed down. It will drop within 5 seconds or so to the full down position. I noticed the lift arms will pulse up every few seconds if they are in the full up position.
What needs to be done to keep the lift from bleeding down so quick. I assumed a rebuilt kit for the piston is what I needed but when I look them up I get pump rebuild kits. I have read to get rid of the "vein" pump if you have it. I am not sure how to know if mine is a vein pump or not. The pump is mounted on the same side of the motor as the distributor and is about the size of a thermos. I feel somewhat like an idiot for not knowing this but if I put a piston style pump on there would it all be under the seat? Is it a conversion of sorts or is it a matter of removing one and bolting another on? Thanks in advance for any help you might offer.
