I fell out of a car that way once when I was about 3 or 4. It was a Model A Ford with suicide back doors. I was eating an apple and wanted to throw the core out the door, so I opened the door and naturally the wind caught it and I went with it.
We were only going about 30 mph on a gravel road. It was winter, and I was bundled up in a snow suit and landed in a bunch of dead weeds in the ditch. Of course, my dad stopped as soon as he could, but those Model A's weren't all that great on brakes. I vaguely remember it. My dad came running back up the road, and I came running down the road yelling at him why didn't he stop right away.
Once my wife heard of it, she found a lot she could blame on that one incident. Or the time I fell off the machine shed roof and was knocked out for awhile. I told my parents I fell off the roof and slept for awhile.
