I will give you my idea of how I would run my 12/24 volt motor. I keep it on 12 volts...reason is if standing up in front of boat and see a log or rock that you need to avoid and you have one foot on the trolling motor and turn the foot control to move sideways, the 24 has so much torque that if you're like me (and Bill Dance)it can put you right in the drink. The only time I used 24 was if the boat was gonna get in the rough,up against rocks or such. Or....if the fish are hitting every cast and you got your bait hung on that danged old tree limb. ohfred
