It seems the rules are never changing, but they are getting more user friendly. Way back thirty five years ago, we had to learn two different methods, One for the Red Cross, the other for the Amarican Heart Association.
It does help increase the odds, but overall numbers are not real great regardless. The new auto pulse units are something I hope every EMS unit can afford some day soon. The problem is as always a lack of funds. I think some of our grants should be directed to save lives in the USA sometimes instead of overseas.
There are alot of rewarding deeds in our lives, but pulling someone back from death ranks right up there. You will always have the ego driven medical folks, but it does seem that things are now turning in to a educated common folk approach.
We as EMS, in Iowa, will not see this change for years, due to the big dogs having to give their stamp of approval.
This method is a exception to alot of the rules, like seat belts---no money trail.
