The decision was easy for me. My house was insured from the same company for 25 years. One day they sent an inspector and said my wood burning furnace would have to go since it was not UL listed. I won't part with that cast iron beauty, so no insurance. No company I've talked to will give me wind insurance without fire insurance and none will give me fire insurance. Tough luck I guess. I have another house that I rent out to use as my insurance. I'll say one thing, you won't find a cleaner chimney that one that's owned by a guy who doesn't have fire insurance :)
