We have quite a population of em at our place, I think all the riding areas with the soft footing for the horses, draws em in as well as the abundance of insects.
I leave a florescent light on by a doorway, nightlight if you will, they line up as if an audience and face the light as if it were a stage, I have seen quite a few at one time, must be a good place to catch insects at night. I believe these are american toads, supposed to live for 30 years or so? We kinda work around em and leave em alone.
I've also noticed that there are 2 less common species of frog, pickerel and leopard, 30 miles south I've never seen one, supposed to mean the environment is healthy, they have quite the pattern on em, and would seemingly easily win those races at the fairs for the kids to participate in !
