farmerweber, We had similar sheet clamps at work and on two different occasions guys were severely hurt when the clamp released and the sheet of steel fell on them. They were using the clamps attached a hoist to insert large sheets of steel 3/8" thick and maybe 8' X 12' into a roller. The sheets had to be raised several feet off the floor, one end inserted into the roller and then lowered towards horizontal as it fed in the roller. I believe that these clamps had locks on them but either they weren't locked or the cable got slack in it and they released the sheet. They can be very dangerous and I believe that they went to a different type of clamp for this operation.
