Had it in high school and college while playing football...the stuff was living in the field turf and the carpet in the locker room. Got it twice in one season in high school, about 30 or so of us got it out, with 90 guys practicing together every day, it spread pretty quickly. Mine entered through cuts in my arms. We eventually learned to keep all cuts incredibly clean and covered as any open cuts that came in contact with the virus (ie the turf) got infected. One of the guys who'd gotten it early on ended up in the hospital, the rest of us got antibiotics. I remember taking keflex and something else...really tore my stomach up and zapped all my energy.
They ended up fumigating and then removing the carpet in high school, luckily by the time I got to college, cellulitis and MRSA were already pretty well known and the training staff was ready before it ever had a chance to become widespread. Make sure you wash your hands and stay extra clean, keep any cuts clean and unexposed.
