I use a 3/4 screen in a gehl mix mill for cob corn. You can use a smaller screen but it grinds much slower and takes more power. You do end up with some cob waste like other had said but does it really amount to much I never thought so in comparision to the extra time, fuel to grind it finer.
I do also use that same 3/4 screen for shelled corn so it doesn't make dust.
