far as I know, if it is a 4x4, it is not a camper special, camper special had a longer wheelbase than the regular pickups, the 4x4's were not recommended for campers, per Ford. sounds like someone took a few parts and made up a truck, if it is in good shape and you are going to use it or have fun with it, should be fine, but if you want to SHOW it it is a mongrel. 4x4 4spd, 390 is a good combination, the 390's were better than the 360's other one could be 351, those were ok too. If it is an f250, will have 8 lug wheels and 16 inch tires in it. Ranger was the high end model of the pickup
