Check the front of your engine for leaks even if there is nothing on the ground. Had a 03 6.0 that smelled of AF with no signs of leakage, but did have to add everytime I changed the oil. Took the truck into Ford for a recall (several recalls on that engine) and told the service tech about the smell. Ended up replacing the water pump. Seeped enough through the weep hole not to drip on the ground and burned off. Be aware, if that's the problem, everything from the bumper to engine comes off to get to (lots of hours). My 6.4 is worst.
