Snow here, in South Dakota, in April is not uncommon. Some of our biggest snowstorms, by that I mean most moisture, come in April. They are real calf killers as some people are in the heart of calving. One producer lost over 100 calves in an April blizzard and the next April it happened again and he lost a little less than 100. We can get storms in May also. Old timers say don't put cattle out to pasture until the end of May. One year we had a killing frost on Memorial Day weekend and another one on Labor Day weekend. That was hard on crops.
