Years ago I used to work in a boat factory, and sometimes folks would buy used boats made by us, and then bring them to us for updates, cleaning up, rehabing so to speak. The stickers, tape, whatever that were used for licenses and boat registration, you've seen them...the numbers on the hulls? That tape or whatever generally is there for years or decades, but put a heat lamp on it for few minutes and you would be surprised at how soft and pliable that stuff gets. Like taking a bandaid off. The gals that used to do the cleanup, touchup, and stuff? They were masters. Then use like mineral spirits to get the remaining glue off. When comes to glue, I think acetone and stuff like that is useless.
Good luck. Whats a heat lamp bulb cost anyway? You can use it again some other time.
