A few years ago on Valentine's Day, before I retired, I stopped at a little WalMart in Anna, Illinois to pick up the obligatory VD card. It was drizzling rain, and dark already, and when I got to the card rack, there were about six forlorn looking guys staring at ONE lonely card on the rack. I looked them over - they all seemed afraid to make the move, so I grabbed the card. When I looked at it, it had a big boot print right across the face of it. With a mirror image of the Red Wing logo. I said, "OH $hit!" In unison they exclaimed, "Yeah, Oh $hit!" I put the card back and headed for the door. I was 40 miles from home and there were at least two more chances on the way. I met my boss coming in as I was going out and asked him if he was after a card. He said, "Yep, I can't go home without one. . ."
Next morning he informed me that it had been a cold lonely night.
