A woven poly mulch is much better than a plastic sheeting mulch. DeWitt Sunbelt is top of the line in my opinion and lasts for years if you leave it down.
Torch heat a round hollow object such as copper plumbing pipe of the appropriate diameter in order to cut a disk from the fabric. The heat melts the threads together to keep them from fraying.
My Sunbelt was place in 1997 and is now showing deterioration, but is still serviceable. Fairly high initial cost but cheap when you factor longevity. Probably cheaper than sheet plastic.
