Well in Missouri it is required to declare all that you own on Jan. 1st. auto,truck,tractors,boats, cattle,chickens,goats,beehives any livestock atv's, boatmotors. It is taxed on a depreciated scale. My 9n had a value of $200 assessed and paid a 6.5% tax on that value. Less than a tank of gas. 2004 escape only had a tax of $185. It's how we pay for the school districts, EMS, fire districts,road service in the county,so I don't feel to bad about it. Some politician wants to do away with the 6% income tax and turn everything over to a goods and services tax that will have to jump the state sales tax to 15% to make up the difference. Every one in the state will be required to charge a tax on all transactions by your doctor, lawyer or any service that someone provide for you to pay at 15%.
