Being an expert in cat husbandry,your Tom was likely bitten on the leg during a cat fight and the infection caused swelling, the penicillin is taking the infection out of it Had a Tom bitten on the cheek and it infected and swelled the size of a golf ball,I had to lance it with a razor blade,the stuff that came out of that cut was like glue and the smell of it pretty near made me gag. After ten days of popping a pill in him he healed up,he didn't fight when I slit him, I think it was a big relief from the pain. All that was the result of a bite from a cat fight with a big black Tom out on our patio. That Tom lived another three years after and died at the ripe old age of 23,incredible for a cat but not totally rare either.
