An excellent reference I recommend for your project is a book "Beyond The Furrow" by Hiram M. Drache, Concordia College, Interstate publishers, Danville, IL. One comment I remember from the book is there was a time during the early part of the last century where certain banks would not loan a farmer money to buy a tractor because they thought it would make him soft and lazy.
