Great stories. I've got a little tid bit of a story also. Lee Marvin was interviewed by Johnny Carson on the tonight show before he died. Johnny asked Lee about his military service. Lee described his battles in the Pacific Islands as a Marine. He told of Omaha Beach and all the casualties the Marines incured there. He was wounded during the battle but told of a Marine that was braver than any guy he knew. This guy stood up shooting at the enemy with gun in one hand while dragging wounded Marines off the beach to safety with the other hand. Johnny asked who this guy was,..Lee didn't hesitate in his answer: "Sgt.Bill Ketchum, he saved my life".(Bill Ketchum was also know later as Captain Kangaroo.)
