That's your business. If you don't want to give out your SSN, you don't have to. Of course, that means you can't apply for a loan or credit card, which means you can't get a mortgage or rent a car. Without a credit card, I imagine you have a hard time buying an airline ticket, ordering anything over the internet or getting a room in a decent hotel. Most of us consider these things fairly important, apparently you don't care. That's fine with me, although I choose to make things convenient for myself, even if it means I have to give out my SSN.
Oh, by the way, you'll never rent a house from me, either. I require all rental applicants to give me their SSN so I can run a credit check. No SSN, they can look elsewhere for housing.
