When you say locked up, I kind of think you are refering to the opener? If so, there probably is some binding, or the chain is jumping the sprocket.
Please post a little more information.
If you are refering to the door, and it is not froze down, check for door binding, a broken spring, cable jumped the drum, or the door is caught under the opening on one corner. Rollers often catch on a bolt also.
