Kinda like us Swedes. My cousin has been doing this for over 40 years for our family, but when you get back to Sweden, there was one generation that had to choose a permanent name. Prior to that, your last name was your fathers first name with son added,so having the same last name might only mean that your father and somebody else's had the same first name.
Interesting story about that is Charles Lindbergh. His grandfather was the generation that had to take a permanent name. They had the option of the fathers name and son,or something entirely new. The name Lindbergh meant tree and mountain and he thought that was a nice name so that's the one he took. If he had taken his fathers name and son,Charles Lindberghs name would have been Charles Manson.
