Newriverboy I just did it in reverse. Probably the most senic part was the Arizon end. Do not go up I 17 go out across country and hit 40 either at Winslow or Holbrook. The area (the rim) around Prescot Az is beautifull. As you leave Az on 40 you will be at the painted desert nice quick drive. Someone mentioned the mesuem at Elk city that was a nice 4 hrs. Can,t think of any reason someone in Phonix should go to Oklahoma this time of the year..O you will see lots of windmills.and some boring driving.
