You are not alone in your thinking, and very few know what happens to some of these kids in the higher country club class of folks. All income brackets are faced with the problems, the higher income folks are usualy less expected to fall into the dirty heap.
Many kids are threatened to keep it quiet, or else, many don't realize what normal is...they need a place to turn. I will not even start on the Amish lifestyles, otherwise the gun folks would go a hunting.
I'm not convinced our schools are even good, let alone experts in unnatural home issues. Our government throwing money at it will make us all feel good, but few teachers have the caring to get involved, and risk their jobs over doing what is right.
Politics are in our school system as much as they are in the DC area.
I lived such a sheltered life, I count my blessings every day, as we all should.
