That still goes on today in the rural schools.
I don't worry too much about a farm kid with a gun. He or she is quite likely to be a better gun handler than I am.
A case in my own family - my grandaughter is on the highschool skeetshooting team. She recently hit 92 out of a hundred in competition. She's fired more rounds in two years than I have in my lifetime.
