You need to remove the dash on my old 1981 Mercury Cougar to replace the heater core. I change the antifreeze every 3 years since it will lose the rust inhibitor over time. There's not too many garages around to do that core removal and its not cheap. They should've nutted the engineer that designed that setup. The easiest core removal I ever had was on a 1959 Rambler station wagon. It was located on the firewall and could be replaced in a few minutes. I bought a used core from a later model Rambler and never had any more core problems. Hal
