This happened to my new Farmall H that I had just acquired last winter. I tried using a salamander and a tarp but it didn't seem to be working so I took off the transmission top cover and took the opportunity to clean everything up and check it out thoroughly. I don't think that option is as easy on a JD but I can't remember for sure. I would try heating the plug and letting it cool and also penetrating oil and tapping as was said before.
