Here in the Buffalo NY area, the city bought some Unimogs with plows after the Blizzard of '77. They were '78's and '79's. We ended up buying them from the city at auction, and we used them for yard vehicles at our salvage yard. They all had 6 cyl. Mercedes diesels, which were stubborn starters in cold weather. They were worth it though, because they would drive through anything and pull anything. I tried to get one licensed and registered, and then found out that they would take thousands of dollars each to bring them up to state laws and pollution standards. Just saying:)

For several years I had been driving by a farm house on the west side of Indianapolis that had a John Deere combine parked in high weeds in a lot behind the house.
