Always a good idea to chisel a bit more shallow in the Spring- turns up less cold soil. Here it is better to use a field cultivator for secondary tillage. Discs are a good machine if you want to pack the soil. Never understand why the wannabees think they need a tractor, plow, disc, and a FC is not on the radar. Discs have their use in cutting sod after plowing.....look at what works for the full-time farmers- there is a reason the majority use the FC after the moldboard plow, or more commonly- the disc chisel. Going through the south half of MN...see very few fields plowed.
