its very easy to tell the diff. the 292 had wider lifter covers on the side than the 250. because it had a longer stroke. the 292 was a work horse and at same time a gas burner.had to be 3/4 ton or bigger to get 292.not available in cars. in the ford line they had a 292 v8 in early sixtys.
